Analyzing Marine Engineering Curriculum from the Perspective of the Sustainable Development Goals

The aim of this study is to answer the questions, what are relevancies sustainable development goals (SDGs) and marine engineering curriculum, areas should be improved achieve a curriculum that supports education. This first analyzes all courses at existing university from perspective SDGs. Five stepped methodology applied, which understanding content SDGs relevance with maritime transportation, examining ITU Maritime Faculty, each course catalog weekly plan, comparing determine relevancy, find strong weak sides aspect According findings, top three relevant SDG4 – Quality education, SDG12 Responsible consumption production, SDG8 Decent work economic growth percentages 50%, 18%, 13%, respectively. On other hand, least SDG17 Partnerships for goals, SDG2 Zero hunger, SDG1 No poverty, SDG15 Life on land 1%, 2%, 3% remaining two, In addition IMO Agenda topics examined linked examination, development-based Moreover, education training changed STCW-based structure SD-based modern curriculum.
